The former college basketball star who played alongside Elvis Pressey on the 1964 song “I’ll Be There for You” will become the host of a new musical show on a channel that is owned by Disney.
Former Alabama star Robert Ladd is expected to host the show, which is scheduled to debut on ESPN3 and Disney XD.
Ladd will host a variety of new and popular music for Disney’s Disney Channel, including new music by the likes of The Black Keys, Elton John, Beyonce and Justin Bieber, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new show will be called “The Musical,” according to the report.
The channel has been a longtime supporter of music and culture and has a long history of producing music, including the original series “Parks and Recreation” and “Community.”
Ladd was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2003.
He played for Alabama from 1959-64.
He won a national championship with the Crimson Tide in 1963 and later played with the San Francisco 49ers.
He later starred with the St. Louis Blues before joining the Los Angeles Kings.
